let the right one in

let the right one in (2008)

Let the right on in a Swedish movie originally a novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist and directed by Thomas alfredson. The movie is placed in the genre of horror/thriller and romance. It follows the character of twelve year old Oskar who is bullied in school and as he befriend a mysterious young girl and as many deaths soon to occur he soon realizes a dangerous truth about he’s only friend. Friendship in and the development and adolescence is shown in an unusual way.

Movies with the genre of horror or thriller have a convention of blood and fright and many people do find the horror genre as a thrilling experience taking you to the fantasy and mysterious side of life however I am not a particularly interested in the horror movies as I find them in some case too frightening however the movie let the right one in was more thriller and horror too me because there wasn’t any gruesome activities as most horror movies are structured by and therefore it was acceptable for me and on that note however I think that the language barrier sometimes can be a turn off as the horror movie genre is sort of a freedom ride and when you have to concentrate on reading it takes away that feeling of freedom and relaxation as you would feel distracted by the writing instead of the main scenes that were occurring.

The trailer that was available for let the right on in was this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZJUgsZ56vQ  it was very captivating and as not much of a horror genre fan it viewed other part of the genre and made me interested in watching it. However this might not have being such a wise choice for the other audiences who are interested in the horror genre as it takes awy that whole pleasure and in it convincing them to come and watch the film, as it lacks all the aspect in which they would have being interested in. isolation is being represented visually by the the characters visually by thiier interaction with each other. Oskar and eli by far the most isolated and the they both seek company with themselves the idea that whenever they meet its always in an empty snowy environment and theres only a few sentences been passed between the both of them. Also the clothes they wear are always in  a way similar as they are always colours whicjh are dull and this represents loneliness nad isolation even neglect and therefore they seek company as they are the characters mostly alike.

I think as a teenage audience I particularly liked the characters, the character all reflect the difficulties of friendship and growing up and this interest me because we all know how it is and we all wanna know how some people cope with it and in a way it teaches us lesson so yea the characters I liked well because they all portrayed the emotion and attitudes of a typical teenage character, however I also felt that I like the character of oskar more than elis because I felt that he was innocent and felt sorry for him meanwhile a quite negative feel to eli because she seemed to be pushing him inj the wrong with her dark secrets . The part of the narrative a gain that attracted me in the movie let the right one in was the aspect of growing up and finding friendship.in a horror movie convention the vampire is the villan but in this movie it is very unusual as the charcter in which you would describe as the hero is an acquaintance with the villain and therefore as oscar is ther innocent one we would expect that as conventions go oscar should be scared of eli but instead he seeks friendship from the villain
