Question 6Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

At the start of the year when i started media studies i think my knowledge was very limited, however through the year my technique and understanding of media techniques and industry is wider.

Evidence of this can be shown with my preminilary task and my 2 minute opening sequence

p task
from this you can see that the compared to our earlier task the i have registered how to compact an over the shoulder shot in other to save space and for it too look more professional

from this i think over time with more knowledge it became to my understanding that in other for a shot too look professional it needs to be steady and not blurry this first shot is a blurry shot which looks immature whereas the shot below looks more professional as its steady

overall i think i have made a very distant improvement when handling the equipments establishing shots, lightning and angles

question 5 How does your media product represent particular social groups?

in our movie two main social groups  are represented.

i think we might have also potrayed a stereotypical idea in our movie in the sense that the homeless guy represents men in society  and also the only other man we see is a thief. this portrays  men as a lower class in society. however our female character portrays a business like lady therfore portraying women as being  prim and proper in society

uestion 4 What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

tripod
during the course of time i lerant how to use a tripod
A tripod is used as a way too make the camera steady and also helps the ball helps with camera movement such as tilt and pan this is very useful because it helps make
the footage look steady and very professional.

 camera
basically without the camera theres no footage, the camera is very useful obviously. we are using this camera and although its little  its very high tech and produces good image however a tripod its needed because it can be very hard too keep a steady hand.and i learnt lots of new techniques in handling the camera.
phones
this was critical in other for me too keep in contact with other people in my group incase of any change of plan or information needed.

 apple mac
the apple mac was very useful in creating our movie because i learnt many vital things such as using i movie garage band and also using itues. the mac was very useful in protducing our movie.

live type
I used this to experiment with making credits for the opening sequence.it was fun and i would have loved to include it in our movie if we had more time.

blogger
i thnk during this course blogger as being my own personal diary i had never blogged before but during this course i became familiar with it and found it very useful in keeping information and presenting my work.

facebook
i used this to keep in contact with my other group members.
 youtube

I used YouTube to find and analyse other opening sequences that related to our genre  This was an important to do as it helped me recognise the conventions of a romantic comedy and how to follow or challenge them.

imbd
imbd was very useful in terms of  gathering research on our specific genre.

google

google of course in terms of research and also any pictures or we needed it was very useful and i learnt how to really keyword my research in ther to find the information i really needed.

art of title
this is an internet database in which i was able to get many idead for an opening sequence it was very useful.

question 3 In what ways does your media products use, develop or change forms and conventions of real life media products? (i.e. of film openings)

 How are the characters introduced?
conventinally most romantic comedies always follow the narrative of two characters as shown in our comparative movie just my luck there is a female narrative shown and also a male establishing characters in our opening sequence we folowed convention by  introducing  both of our characters as shown in screen grab 4 with a split screen this is very useful as its a intresting way for the audiences too immediatly compare the characters.

costumes and props.
These two elememnts though they might seem veery minor are very useful in the production of a movie. in our comparative movie we see many props being used in other to reinforce the charcaters like the bag she carries is used to reinforce wealth and fashion wheras the male character the glasses are used to reinforce geeky and unlucky. we made use of props and costume in our opening sequence by enforcing a large gap of style and class.our female character is dressed more smartly and neatly and is carrying a bag that looks rather posh however our male character as a prop of a slepping bag to enforce hes homless and also hes clothes unlike our female charcter is dirty and scruffy.as shown in screen bag 5 and 6.

story and how the opening is set up.
our story is very conventional.reinforced in our comparative movie just my luck its a typical boy meets girl both they both have large diffrences of class.how its set up is also convetional as both characters are reinforced immediatly in our opening sequence.

title font and style.
in refrence to the title i think we followed convention in the sense that our title had its own sort of theme like many other romantic comedies. however i think we challlenged convention in the sense that normally the titles of romantic comedies are colourful however ours is just white.as shown in screengrab 2

setting and location.
in our comparitive movie for this task the scenes are all used to establisgh something baout the character likewise our own movie. in our opening sequence we mad use of two main setting and location which are extrreme contrast to one another. theres a home and a dirty looking hallaway. the girl who is of higher class is in the nice looking house hower the homless guy is on the dirty street.

camera work and editing.
in romantic comedies example just my luck both charcters are shown in other too introduc them to the audiences. one way in which we done this is by editing. we used a split screen to enforce both charcaters and also quite a few cross cutting too show both point of view. we also used camera work in the sccenes where both characters come together. we used long shots in  the hallaway to establish the female charcter and also the male charcater about to meet up.

genre and how our opening sequence suggests it?
right from the very start of the movie there are connotations that our movie is a romantic comedy. like in just my luck we made a title a theme that is romantic comedy. our title name itself "lost and found" has a romantic fairytale feel to it. then the use of musiv also reinforces the romantic elements to the movie. aswell as the way we introduced both charcaters.

 Lost and found directors script

the movie lost and found is its typical rom com movie

the first scene and introduction to the narrative had that soothing fairy tale feel to it, this is very conventional for rom com.

The title of the movie at the begging of the sequence was a way in which I thought would drag our targeted audience immediately isn’t too cheesy but exactly what is expected

then we also had the voice over of the main charcter giving a sort of typical once upon a time narrative but in form of a horoscope

at this stage the music had also changed to a more fast paced pop that many of our targeeted audience could relate too

the idea of the split screen I really liked because its builds the characters of too main characters and alos keeps the audience entertained as there are two characters too feast upon

the character of amy is the typical next door girl so to enforce this we showed her doing what a typical girl would do such has make up, however the use of the red lipstick also enforced the idea of posh and businesslike but not too enforce the business like too much, because of our targeted audience she let her hair down

the other side of our character the homeless guy, he’s character was shown by giving him a sleepin bag and also having extra actors giving him some money.

When the music stopped the lightning of the scene dimmed reinforcing a sign of danger and alos with the added silence and location of the hallway she was walking in

then the music turned to a dark and quite taunting one further reinforcing the danger of what was about too happen

then the sound effect I wasn’t too sure about and there were lots of disagreement but it was added to reinforce the comedy part of this narrative.and I guess it is quite funny so it does it part

Then the equilibrium of achieving the bag back from the mugger was backed up with another soundtrack that the audience could also relate too

the hug also reinforced a new begging and the angle showing amy walking into the sunlight reinforces this

then the final moment when the homeless guy finds the card it sort of gives the target audience that itch to want to see more.

our final product

                                                                lost and found
